But what have I done with my life? Only this? An infinitely long table, plates, knives. And at the far end, you, my husband, sitting in a heap. Frowning.

Mr and Mrs Ramsay share summer days with children and friends in their holiday home by the sea. The children play, Mr Carmichael reclines with handkerchief over his face, Tansley parades his principles, Lily tries to paint her picture and 10 year old James wants to go to the Lighthouse. Life is sweet. But will the weather be fine? A storm is forecast.

Darkness. Time passes. War.

And the Ramsay lives are changed forever.....

Brought vividly to dramatic life by Ireland’s foremost playwright Marina Carr, Virginia Woolf’s masterpiece of modernism is adapted for the stage in a world premiere from award-winning director Annabelle Comyn.

Starring Derbhle Crotty and Declan Conlon, To The Lighthouse receives its world premiere at The Everyman, as part of Cork Midsummer Festival 2020.

Touring to Pavilion Theatre from Wed 8 – Sun 19 July.

First commissioned by Hatch Theatre Company in association with Project Arts Centre.
