Transforming a gallery into an interactive play space for early years children (0-6).

Unique custom-made materials, games and playable sculptures have been developed by Chris through interactive research and play-testing with children in early years settings in Cork City.

Taking inspiration from child-centred pedagogies such as the Montessori and Reggio Emilia approaches, as well as Simon Nicholson’s loose parts play theory, children are invited to interact with the space and materials - exploring, playing, imagining and having fun.

As the space changes and evolves as a participatory installation, Chris will document the results of the children’s play, with this photographic documentation accumulating in the space in varied formats throughout the exhibition.

Part of the Triskel Sample Project Studio Programme.
Funded by Arts Council Children and Young People's Arts Bursary Award 2025.
