The Young Critics are coming to Cork! One of Youth Theatre Ireland’s most popular and innovative programmes, the Young Critics recruits 14 young people from youth theatres across the country.

Guided on their journey of critical discovery by expert facilitators, they learn about how and why theatre is made, see incredible shows and voice their opinions. Over the course of the festival, the Young Critics watch a selection of productions and present their critical responses at this special event. Chaired by Dr. Karen Fricker, The Young Critics Panel is always lively and informative as the young people share their views with humour, passion and eloquence.

Established in 1980, Youth Theatre Ireland is the national development organisation for youth theatre. We are unique in our commitment to youth-centred drama practice and know that youth theatre is a place to develop young artists and young citizens. We promote youth drama opportunities that focus on the artistic, personal and social development of young people, and support almost 60 youth theatres nationwide.
