The Midsummer Parade, an annual event since 2022, is a celebration of the longest day of the year and Cork's communities. Cork Community Art Link (creators of the annual Dragon of Shandon) lead the development of the parade, collaborating with local community groups and organisations such as Joan Denise Moriarty School of Dance, Suisha Creative Arts and Cork Samba Band as well as over 100 local participants to create parade floats to fill the streets of Cork bright summer colour.
Revellers are invited to enjoy fantastical floats, puppets, masked performers and manner of musicians, and dancers as they take to Oliver Plunkett Street for a unique performance. The parade finishes with a finale show on Grand Parade, outside the city library.
Led by Cork Community Art Link and commissioned by Cork Midsummer Festival. Supported by the Arts Council. The 2023 edition of the parade was sponsored by Bus Éireann.
