Hungry Tea was a site-specific work about stories, secrets, beauty, laughter and desolate places. Presented by Creative Connections, a two-year intercultural project for Cork women, in collaboration with award-winning British artist Mark Storor. It took place at 22 Watercourse Road, Blackpool.
This potent brew consisted of: 16 Cork residents, preferably women, and a random collection of strangers. Add in three drops of black humour and a dash of imagination, sprinkle with laughter and simmer gently for 24 hours until stories rise to the surface. Vigorously knead random strangers until an audience is formed, serve at regular intervals throughout the day.
Hungry Tea was a Cork Midsummer Festival and Mayfield Arts Newbury House project with support from Nasc.
The project was co-financed by the European Commission under the European Integration Fund and is supported by the Office for the Promotion of Migrant Integration in the Department of Justice and Equality and Pobal.
