Performing to packed houses across the UK and Europe, Idrîsî Ensemble make their hugely anticipated Ireland debut at St Fin Barre’s Cathedral, presenting a special programme for Cork Midsummer Festival.

Delving back into the rich history of Mediterranean music, the collective offers up a window into a world gone by. Pioneering a fresh approach to historical performance, Idrîsî Ensemble performs medieval repertoire from period manuscripts alongside UNESCO-protected and endangered traditions.

Medieval polyphony and chant will sit alongside living traditions from Corsica, Greece, Algiers and beyond, moving between intimate solo moments and immersive ensemble sound in the cathedral’s spectacular acoustic, brought to life by a handpicked group of the ensemble’s specialist singers and instrumentalists.
