Performing to packed houses across the UK and Europe, Idrîsî Ensemble make their hugely anticipated Ireland debut at St Fin Barre’s Cathedral, presenting a special programme for Cork Midsummer Festival.

Delving back into the rich history of Mediterranean music, the collective offers up a window into a world gone by. Pioneering a fresh approach to historical performance, Idrîsî Ensemble performs medieval repertoire from period manuscripts alongside UNESCO-protected and endangered traditions.

Medieval polyphony and chant will sit alongside living traditions from Corsica, Greece, Algiers and beyond, moving between intimate solo moments and immersive ensemble sound in the cathedral’s spectacular acoustic, brought to life by a handpicked group of the ensemble’s specialist singers and instrumentalists.

Sponsored by Ecclesiastical Insurance.

As part of their time at Cork Midsummer Festival, Idrîsî Ensemble presents an Old Roman chant Workshop & Talk on Friday 12 June at 1pm. Join this rare opportunity to delve into old Roman chant in a one-off workshop led by Idrîsî Ensemble director, Thomas Fournil.
