An intimate, one-to-one installation that invites you to step into a world lost to war—but still alive in memory.
One Home. One Thousand Memories.
Created by Palestinian artist Basel Zaraa for his young daughter, this powerful experience reconstructs his childhood home in Al Yarmouk refugee camp, Damascus.
Through objects, sounds, photos, and scent, the installation shares the story of a family shaped by displacement, resistance, and enduring love. As you explore the home, you’ll inhabit Laila’s perspective—touching the traces of lives once lived in a place that no longer exists.
Basel Zaraa is a UK-based Palestinian artist whose work explores exile, memory, and identity through the senses. Dear Laila has been shown at over 15 international festivals, translated into six languages, and was awarded the ZKB Audience Prize in 2023.
Supported by MTU Gallery at 46 Grand Parade, Crawford College of Art & Design, and MTU Arts Office.
