A series of work in progress sharings at Cork Theatre Collective Studio at Triskel Arts Centre, supported by Cork Midsummer Festival and Cork Theatre Collective.

At CTC Studio, Triskel Arts Centre:

Emily Terndrup

these gentle beings unhappy

13 June 9pm

A gut-punching reimagining of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein from director and choreographer Emily Terndrup. Fusing dance, theatre, and visual storytelling, this collision of artforms confronts the thrill and terror of creation – in life, in art and in the body. Boldly physical and darkly funny, this unflinching dissection of a classic tale exposes our very modern fears about consequence and control.

Supported by Dance Cork Firkin Crane, The Everyman, and Cork County Arts Office. Please note these sharings may be unsuitable for children

MatreSCENE
The messy play of motherhood

15 June 6pm

MatreSCENE
- the messy play of motherhood is a contemporary performance inspired by the concept of matrescence – the period of hormonal, physical, environmental and societal change a woman undergoes in becoming a mother. It features a cast of three artist-mothers – Siobhán Donnellan, Caroline Lynch and Ró Stack – who last worked on a play together in 2012 when both Caroline and Siobhán were pregnant for the first time.

In a mix of performance, memory and musing, they explore what we talk about when we talk about mother(hood).

'the question of what a woman is if she is not a mother has been superseded for me by that of what a woman is if she is a mother; and of what a mother, in fact, is.’ - Rachel Cusk

Directed by Annie Ryan
Produced by Mags Keohane

Capture

20 June 5pm

A darkly compelling exploration of online stalking and digital obsession inspired by real cases. Shannon is a journalist making her first true crime podcast - but as the story pulls her deeper, she’s forced to question how far she’s willing to go for the truth. Exploring theatre, podcasting, and sound design, Capture delves into voice, obsession and identity theft.

Written by Cara Christie
Directed by John Doran

Supported by The Arts Council, The Pavilion Theatre, Cork Theatre Collective and Fringe Lab

Numbered Be Our Days

21 June 5pm

In 2016, headlines claimed there were no Jews left in Cork. It wasn’t true. Using the real words of Cork’s Jewish community – and those who live alongside them – playwright Andrea Stolowitz and her team weave a portrait of history, identity and belonging. Numbered Be Our Days is a new play about what it means to hold on to who you are, and who you’ve been, in a changing world.

In association with Cyclone Repertory Theatre.

Supported by Fishamble's New Play Clinic, The Literary and New Work Department at The Abbey Theatre, The Arts Council, and Venturous Theatre Fund of the Tides Foundation.

Directed by Donal Gallagher (Asylum Productions)
Performed by an ensemble of award-winning local actors

Also taking place, at The Everyman:

Voices From The Inside

Work in progress at The Everyman
18 June 7pm

A new play giving voice to those inside Cork Prison - and to the families left outside. Based on real conversations with students in the prison’s Education Unit, Voices From The Inside tells the stories of three men at the start of their sentences, exploring isolation, identity and the long reach of incarceration.

Supported by Cork ETB, Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Irish Prison Service, Cork City Partnership, Tomar and Cork Theatre Collective
