“How the hell did they just do that with their voices?!” Part electrifying gig, part thrilling theatre, this powerful and poetic show pushes the energy of the human voice to its expressive, musical
and rhythmic limits. Six performers with six microphones take apart Mary Shelley's original and reimagine a world of modern monsters – from our over-stimulated digital age to the pressures to conform - while taking musical inspiration from Pachelbel to The Prodigy.Inspired by the original monstrous tale of power and persecution, and in Cork for just two performances, this critically acclaimed production marks 10 years of nurturing rising talent and pushing the boundaries of sound and music with BAC Beatbox Academy; Battersea Arts Centre’s young performance collective.

Tales Of Two Cities
Cork Midsummer Festival, The Everyman, MAYK and Bristol Old Vic

Aimed at very early career theatre artists, Tales Of Two Cities is a new artist development programme where new artists from Cork will travel to Bristol's MayFest and Ferment to experience work, meet artists and attend workshops, and in return these Cork artists will host their counterparts from Bristol during Cork Midsummer Festival 2022. Artists will also develop the beginnings of a new idea or project throughout the programme, mentored by the programme partners and professional practitioners. We are delighted to announce that the participating artists in 2022, selected from an open call in April, are Rosa Mäkelä and Éadaoin Fox (working in collaboration), and Aaron O’Neill. More details on the participants, and their experiences as part of Tales Of Two Cities coming soon!
