Make the most of your Cork Midsummer Festival visit

There’s plenty to discover in Cork alongside the festival programme. Whether you're visiting for a day or longer, here are a few of our favourite ways to experience the city and beyond while you're here.

Explore the City Centre

The best way to get to know Cork is simply by wandering. Start in the city centre and see where the day takes you. Pop into the English Market for a snack, browse independent shops, grab a coffee, or settle into a cosy pub. There’s always something happening, from street performers to pop-up events, and plenty of places to stop and soak up the atmosphere.

Discover Street Art

Cork is a city full of creativity, and you don’t need a ticket to experience it. Keep an eye out for colourful murals, hidden artworks, and sculptures as you explore. The city’s public art trails are a great excuse to take a different route and discover parts of Cork you might otherwise miss.

Take a Day Trip

If you have a little extra time, venture beyond the city. Cobh is known for its colourful waterfront and fascinating maritime history, while Fota Wildlife Park offers a chance to get up close to animals in beautiful surroundings. Both are easy to reach and make for a great day out.

Climb the Shandon Bells Tower

One of Cork’s most iconic landmarks, the Shandon Bells Tower is well worth the climb. Make your way to the top for fantastic views across the city and, if you're feeling brave, have a go at ringing the famous bells yourself. It’s a Cork experience that’s hard to forget.

Step into Cork's Rich History

For a glimpse into the city’s history, visit Cork City Gaol and explore one of Cork’s most intriguing heritage sites. Afterwards, take a stroll through nearby Fitzgerald Park, a peaceful spot by the river that’s perfect for slowing down between festival events.

And more

While you're here for Cork Midsummer Festival, make time to enjoy the city itself. Follow the sound of traditional music drifting from a pub doorway, discover a new favourite café, or wander along the River Lee on a summer evening. Some of the best festival moments happen between events, and Cork has a way of surprising you when you least expect it.

Enjoy the festival, and enjoy the city.
