Sarah Kinneen announced as Jane Anne Rothwell Award recipient for 2024

Cork Midsummer Festival is delighted to announce that the recipient of the Jane Anne Rothwell Award for 2025 is Sarah Kinneen.

The Jane Anne Rothwell Award is a prize of €5,000 awarded annually to an emerging artist – either from Cork, or based in Cork – working in any discipline, who identifies as female. Jane Anne Rothwell was the inspirational Chair of Cork Midsummer Festival from 2013 – 2018. A leading figure in Cork’s legal and business community, Jane Anne was an incredible mentor to and champion of women in the arts.

Sarah Kinneen is a multi-disciplinary artist from Co. Wexford, now based in Cork. She is a recent graduate of Limerick School of Art of Design with a BA in Sculpture & Combined Media. Her practice draws from site and is rooted in the ritual of daily walks and slow looking, desiring to explore the endless connections between ecology and visual art. She engages in a collaborative dialogue with the natural world, using an embodied approach that incorporates alternative photography, site-specific sculpture, growth, dance, and moving image. Through these mediums, she facilitates conversations between the diverse perspectives present in any given landscape. Sarah's work is driven by a fascination with the poetic possibilities that arise from materiality and making in collaboration with others, human and more than human.

Stay tuned for more details on Sarah's work for Cork Midsummer Festival 2025!
