Tales Of Two Cities

Cork Midsummer Festival and The Everyman in Cork, and MAYK and Bristol Old Vic in Bristol

← back

A new artist development programme for very early career theatre artists - an international partnership between Cork Midsummer Festival and The Everyman in Cork, Ireland and MAYK and Bristol Old Vic in Bristol, UK

Aimed at very early career theatre artists, Tales Of Two Cities aims to support new artists in discovering how to articulate and focus their vision, supporting a new cohort of theatre practitioners to show their practice. The programme will involve travelling to Bristol to experience work, meeting artists based in Bristol and attending workshops by artists based in Bristol. Artists will also develop the beginnings of a new idea or project throughout the programme, supported by CMF and The Everyman, and mentored by professional practitioners. The work will be developed without the pressure of having to present anything to a public audience - an opportunity to absorb, to dream, and to begin to create something, whilst being influenced or excited by the work of international practitioners.

Previous participants of the Tales of Two Cities programme include:

  • 2024: Orla Devlin, Kyle English, Kate Mitchell
  • 2023: Izzy Dogliani, Andrea Williams, Candy Warhol
  • 2022: Rosa Mäkelä and Éadaoin Fox; Aaron O'Neill

Mentors have included Aedín Cosgrove, Ciarán Bagnall, Orla Barry, Dan Colley, Adah Parris, Dickie Beau, Noeline Kavanagh, Louis Lovett, and Adrienne Truscott.
