Jackie Nevin announced as recipient of Jane Anne Rothwell Award 2023

Cork Midsummer Festival is delighted to announce that the recipient of the Jane Anne Rothwell Award 2023 will is Jackie Nevin.

Jackie is a sculptor living and working in West Cork. Following a career working with young people, she embarked on her career as an artist in 2017, with a particular interest in casting and exploring new sustainable materials. Inspired by environmental change, she is passionate about taking art out of the gallery and into a community setting, encouraging an engagement that is tactile and inclusive. The primary focus of her practice is to use art to awaken our inherent responses and connections to the natural world. Her installation, Abhaile, while be installed as part of Cork Midsummer Festival in June 2023.

The Jane Anne Rothwell Award is a prize of €5,000 awarded annually to an emerging artist – either from Cork, or based in Cork – working in any discipline, who identifies as female. Jane Anne Rothwell was the inspirational Chair of Cork Midsummer Festival from 2013 – 2018. A leading figure in Cork’s legal and business community, Jane Anne was an incredible mentor to, and champion of, women in the arts.
