Creatures of Habit
Opera / Song Cycle
Directed by Conor Hanratty, a song cycle about how to live when your everyday decisions contribute to ecological collapse.

A giant, oversized rope appears on the streets and parks of Cork – inviting you to reimagine the city by moving, holding, or just visiting ROPE on its adventures and explorations as it pops up in surprise locations.
Created to bring imagination and people together in a temporary social space, this 60m travelling rope (which weighs 196kg and takes eleven people to carry) needs your help to explore the city and meet interesting Corkonians – young and old, residents and visitors, come say hello.
Ahead of its arrival in Cork, ROPE has toured across Europe, China, South America, and South Africa. Based in Belgium, artist Ief Spincemaille develops in-situ projects and social sculptures in non-artistic spaces.
Presented as part of Creative Parks, an annual partnership between Cork City Council’s Culture and Creativity Team and Cork Midsummer Festival, collaborating with artists and communities to develop an all-ages creative day within a city park. Supported by Cork City Council through the Creative Ireland Programme, an all-of- government initiative which places creativity at the centre of public policy.
