A new approach to the art of the music video, crafting music and visuals as one unified process, from Cork producer and videographer Cristian Cruceru - featuring a series of three compositions that merge his interests in both fields.
Cristian is an Audio/Visual artist based in Cork, with a background in Fine Art and Film and Screen Media. As lighting and visual designer at Dali music venue in Cork, he has performed live visuals for electronic music acts such as Christian Löffler and Jon Hopkins. Working out of a love for electronic music, it was a natural progression to begin writing his own.
"Delving into electronic music and visual synthesis, I look to an expanded cinematic space, where form can find new structures outside of conventional narrative. Within this formal blurriness, the act of creation finds free exchange of aesthetic feedback. For me, these melodic intersections resonate as much with contemporary film scoring as they do with their dance floor counterparts." - Cristian Cruceru
For Cork Midsummer Festival, Cristian will premiere a new long-form audio-visual piece, featuring a series of three compositions that merge his aesthetic interests in both fields. Silen takes a long-form approach to the art of the music video, crafting music and visuals as one unified process. Each element presents a new layer of abstraction, influencing and reshaping the other. This organic development occurs along a syncopated path of continuous construction/deconstruction.
