Come and join the beats in this epic, high-energy youth culture take-over at Marina Park!
Bring your moves and join the party with brand new music performances, DJ sets, and bombastic tunes to get your feet tapping and body moving. Inspired by hip-hop, rap, beatbox, spoken word and Afro beats, this all-ages block-party is a vibrant celebration of creativity, identity, and inspirational youth music.
The Kabin Studio and Cork Migrant Centre youth have been collaborating to imagine and develop this vibrant youth culture celebration. These creative teens have been working together to express themselves in lyrics, creating new songs, raps and vocal melodies – working with Kate Donnachie of Battersea Beatbox Academy, choreographer/art director Andrea Williams, spoken word artist/songwriter Raphael Olympio and The Kabin Studio legends Garry McCarthy (GMCBeats), Caoimhe Barry and Alex Brady.
This project is part of the Creative Europe and The Arts Council funded BEyond PARTicipation, exploring methodologies and possibilities of participatory co- creation and co-funded by Music Generation / Arts Council and the Department of Education’s Creativity and Collaboration Fund, Here Comes the Sun
