A journey for the senses through film, installation, aerial acrobatics, dance, and sound, delving into the interaction between identity and environment in an evocative exploration of home.
Amidst the embrace of a rural derelict house, a moth’s erratic movements disrupt stagnant air, stirring forgotten memories and igniting tension between past and present. Through restless recollections, interpreted through movement and sound, acclaimed circus performer Elaine McCague uses the symbolism of the moth, exploring personal identity and the ever-shifting notion of home - in a promenade-style performance of destruction and metamorphosis.
Elaine McCague is an interdisciplinary artist and co- artistic director of award-winning modern art circus company Loosysmokes, as well as associate artist at Uillinn, West Cork Arts Centre. Work to date includes Behind the Dark, Raven Eyed and In Rhythms which premiered as part of Cork Midsummer Festival 2022. The Detached.collab project sees Elaine explore a new interdisciplinary approach, blending circus artistry with film and diverse disciplines, pushing the boundaries of circus performance.
