Crosstown Drift returns with two outdoor events for an intimate audience, with writers Lisa McInerney and Eimear Ryan.
Lisa McInerney is back with us on the drift with her 3rd novel set in Cork, The Rules of Revelation, completing her unholy trinity. Her debut novel The Glorious Heresies won the 2016 Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction and the 2016 Desmond Elliott Prize. Lisa’s second novel, The Blood Miracles was joint winner of the 2018 RSL Encore Award and was longlisted for the 2018 Dylan Thomas Prize. If you've never been to Lisa's Cork then come join us as we meander around the city to locations featured in her newest work.
Also joining us this year is Eimear Ryan. Her debut novel, Holding her breath, will be released on 17 June from Penguin Sandycove. She is the 2021 Writer in Residence at the School of English, UCC, and is co-founder of the literary journal Banshee Press. She also is a sports columnist with the Irish Examiner. Along the trail, Eimear will read from Holding her breath and Eoghan O'Sullivan will chat to both Lisa and Eimear about their newest works.
11.30am: A walking tour with Lisa McInerney
Join Lisa as she reads from her latest novel The Rules of Revelation. Drift with us around the city stopping in key locations featured in the book, meeting first at the steps of the Firkin Crane. The walking tour will last 75 mins approx.
2.30pm: Reading by Eimear Ryan
Join Eimear Ryan as she reads from her debut novel Holding Her Breath. In true Crosstown Drift style, this location is kept a secret but it will be a mere stroll from Emmet Place, so Drifters will be met at the gates of Crawford Art Gallery.
As part of Crosstown Drift, Eoghan O'Sullivan will chat to Lisa and Eimear about their latest novels - details to be announced.
