All That Is Sound

8pm, 16 June

Enjoy an online performance from the recipient of the Jane Anne Rothwell Award, which is awarded annually to an emerging artist from / based in Cork, who identifies as female. Jane Anne was the inspirational Chair of Cork Midsummer Festival from 2013 – 2018 and a leading figure in Cork’s legal and business community as well as an incredible mentor to, and champion of, women in the arts.

Soprano and contemporary musician Kim Sheehan performs excerpts from her album-in-progress All That Is Sound, recorded with her husband (a producer and composer) at her home during lockdown, exploring the precious personal and private experience of listening to music. Inspired by the relationships people form with records, from the singer working through microphone, production and mixing, to a listener experiencing that record via their headphones at home - "it's become a labour of love, and something we can play to our kids in times to come as a reminder of this quiet time of opportunity and self reflection" says Kim.

Kim's performance took place live on Youtube at 8pm, 16 June - watch it back here:
