"Natalie Mering’s fourth album is a grand sentimental ode to living and loving" - Pitchfork
"And then there’s that voice – at once warm and haunting, controlled and untethered" - ***** The Independent
Natalie Mering, known professionally as Weyes Blood, is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. Her 2019 album, Titanic Rising, is the culmination of three albums and years of touring. It’s an achievement in transcendent vocals and levitating arrangements—one she could reach only by flying under the radar for so many years. "I used to want to belong," Natalie says, “I realized I had to forge my own path." She has gained recognition for her distinctive style of melodic and orchestral songwriting melded with urgent global issues. "It’s so symbolic that The Titanic would crash into an iceberg, now that iceberg is melting, sinking civilisation", she says. She has drawn comparisons vocally to Karen Carpenter while lyrically crafting songs full of truth, beauty and hope. "Belief is something all humans need, shared myths are part of our psychology and survival."
Weyes Blood’s most recent album Titanic Rising appeared in over 100 ‘Best of 2019’ lists and readers polls, featuring as one of the top 10 albums of 2019 in The Guardian, The Independent, Pitchfork, NME, Dazed, Uncut Magazine, Entertainment.ie and The A.V. Club. Live performance highlights include sold out tours in the US and Europe as well as singing with Lana Del Rey at the Hollywood Bowl. She and her band will be joining us in Cork post performances at Coachella and Primavera, for a special show in the atmospheric, intimate surroundings of Live at St Luke’s.
