Kevin Barry, Camille O’Sullivan and family spectacle at Cork Midsummer Festival 2016

Cork Midsummer Festival is delighted to announce three highlights of this years festival - Crosstown Drift presented by Kevin Barry, Camille O'Sullivan at the Everyman Theatre and family fun with Metta Theatre's spectacular Jungle Book.

Acclaimed author Kevin Barry presents Crosstown Drift, a trail of tales and tunes across the streets of Cork on June 25th. Over the course of one day, ramble through the streets of Cork as Kevin Barry presents some of the finest writers based in Ireland today, in some of Cork’s most intimate and unusual locations. With a line up including Lisa McInerney, Sara Baume, Danielle McLaughlin, Mike McCormack, Conal Creedon, Rob Doyle, Claire-Louise Bennett, Sinead Gleeson, as well as Kevin Barry himself and many more yet to be announced, Crosstown Drift is set to be one of the literary events of the year, with tickets and full programme available closer to the festival.

Saturday, June 25th also sees the return of the incredible Camille O’Sullivan to Cork Midsummer Festival for a special, one-night-only performance. With a formidable international reputation for her intensely dramatic interpretations of the songs of Brel, Cave, Waits, Bowie and more, Camille has stunned audiences with 5-star sell-out performances including Sydney Opera House, Royal Festival Hall, La Clique, Roundhouse, and Later with Jools Holland. Dark, sexy, fierce and mesmerizing, Camille transforms each song she performs into an intense, emotional experience - expect joy and pure passion from this stunning performer.

For our family audiences, the award-winning Metta Theatre brings Rudyard Kipling’s classic tale crashing into the 21st Century with their spectacular, breath-taking street dance and circus performance. Mowgli is finding her way in the urban jungle. With a beat-boxing bin-man Baloo, graffiti artist Bagheera and a skateboarding Wolf crew, this heart-warming coming of age story will astonish and amaze audiences of all ages. Featuring jaw-dropping tricks from an extraordinary cast of international performers, this is a show for everyone from eight to 80. Jungle Book runs at the Everyman Theatre 17-19 & 21 June.
