Luke Jerram will give an illustrated talk about his work.
Luke’s multidisciplinary practice involves the creation of sculptures, installations and live arts projects, including Play Me, I’m Yours where he places street pianos in cities around the world for people to play and enjoy and Park and Slide where he installed a 95-metre water slide on a Bristol street for one day only. Luke is visiting Cork Midsummer Festival with his piece Museum of the Moon.
Here in Cork Midsummer HQ we are very proud of our city. Cork is a wonderful place to live and work and create and we think that Cork has the capacity to dream even bigger and to be a city where magical, life-changing moments can happen all over the city and where these moments can be enjoyed and experienced by all the people of Cork.
Cork is renowned for its vibrant artistic community and we are very lucky to have so many wonderful venues and arts spaces in the city but we challenge you to think of the entire city as a space, your space. Any space in city can be a stage, can be a canvas, can be a place where ideas come to life.
We have invited some big thinkers and big doers to this year’s festival to tell you about the incredible work they have been doing in other cities and to whet your appetite and fire your imagination for things you never dreamed possible. This is Cork… this is your city. It belongs to every one of us and we invite you to think big and to imagine what your city can be… anything is possible!
All talks are free but ticketed.
