A self-loathing dancer and a fanatical Gaeilgeoir seek to connect in a language lesson that swerves from slapstick to acrimony to personal revelation. Broken Croí/Heart Briste is a comedic and heartfelt look at fractured relationships, using a blend of Irish and English to reveal the warped truth behind our passions.

Is it Irish? Can language be a weapon? Who the feic knows?

Broken Croí/Heart Briste won the Stewart Parker Award for Best Irish Language Drama in 2009 and was nominated for Best New Play and Best Supporting Actress at the Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards and for two awards at Dublin Fringe Festival 2009.

“Broken Croí/Heart Briste is much more than just a play about the Irish language. It is a comedic and heartfelt look at fractured relationships that utilises the dexterity of the language to bring the story to life.” OH, FRINGE!

Performed in English and Irish by Manchán Magan & Eva O’Connor. Directed by Tom Creed. Supported by Foras Na Gaeilge.
