Solstice Night
Featuring: Sumu, Wiggle and Colum Regan.
Sumu is derived from the Malian language meaning celebration in the streets and we bring you a celebration of life. Sumu is a unique fusion of rhythmic world music, combining African jazz, funk and folk to create an original sound.
Cork City’s Digi-Dub terrorists Wiggle use drum machines, sequencers, theremins, computers, samplers, keyboards, sometimes trumpet, occasional box accordion, live vocals, guitar and bass. Dub-Reggae, Drum & Bass and Jungle rhythms from the depths of the urban landscape, with spectral guitar chip-chops ricocheting off the walls and ceilings, sub bass bombs rattling the windows, vocals echoing back from invisible basements, bleeps, astral crooning & glittering keyplay, the sound of the Cork underworld.
Colum Regan is widely regarded amongst his peers as one of the UK’s brightest and most original young songwriters today. A native of Cork, he moved to the UK and for six years has played consistently all over the UK and the US, receiving airplay in both countries and supporting acts like The Frames and Tom Baxter. His wide musical experience is obvious in his versatile approach to songwriting and Colu’s songs range from the anthemic to the intimate.
