Poles Apart
Poles Apart, one of the most exciting new bands in the Cork area who have been astounding audiences with their own unique mix of Latino, funk and blues rhythms with a touch of jazz; receiving rave reviews wherever they perform.
Performing together in Poland for over 10 years, this award-winning quintet has been playing numerous venues around Ireland with their current line up since July 2005. Their repertoire includes a number of the great standards, performed in their own unique style spiced with Latino, funk and blues rhythms, and accentuated by virtuoso trumpet performances of Erwin Zebro, backed with a powerful percussion section featuring Michal Szulc and Lukasz Romanski, along with Pawel Sokol on bass guitar and Tomasz Chlebowski on keyboards. For this special performance at the Spiegeltent, Poles Apart will share the stage with a number of invited guest musicians from Poland and Ireland.
To date, Poles Apart have been impressing audiences from Cork to Galway, Waterford to Limerick and were featured this year at the Cork Jazz Festival and the Cobh People’s Regatta. Poles Apart have also performed with the Cork Trinity Choir at a number of sold out concerts in Fota House at Christmas and early in May 2006.
Most recently Poles Apart were featured in the Irish Examiner and Hot Press magazine as emerging new talent in Ireland and were also included at Cypress Avenue in Cork as part of “The JD Set” night which promotes promising musicians in the Cork Area.
