The Irish / African Community Gospel Choir Competition
The Irish / African Community Gospel Choir Competition
Reflecting Ireland’s growing multicultural society this competition
is open to all choirs practicing within the African Diaspora and
based in Ireland.
Over recent months, choirs have been selected from different
communities, towns and cities around Ireland. During the Midsummer
Festival they will compete for a substantial prize and the
opportunity to perform at festivals around Ireland as well as, of
course, the honour and prestige of being judged ‘Ireland’s No 1
Gospel Choir’.
Most of these choirs will be accompanied by musicians playing a
variety of
instruments including piano, guitar, violin, trombone and drums and
will celebrate the different styles of praise singing that can be
experienced when these choirs
perform within their local communities every Sunday
The Competition will take place at St Fin Barre’s Cathedral, the
perfect venue in Cork City to herald the pure beauty and emotion of
Gospel singing.
