Welcome to the 9th Cork Midsummer Festival.

SUMU + WIGGLE

Tuesday 21st June. TICKETS E10

The word Sumu' is derived from the Malian language meaning celebration in the streets' and we bring you a Celebration of life.

Sumu is a unique fusion of rhythmic world music, combining African, jazz, funk and folk to create an original sound. We believe it is the responsibility of musicians to use their voices to spread a message of peace, love and understanding.

Formed in the summer of 2000, Wiggle played almost weekly in the Yumi Yuki club above the Triskel Arts Centre, honing their sound amongst the tightly packed enthusiastic hedonists known to frequent the now sorely missed Yumi. Toby sings and plays keyboard and does some live programming. Colm plays the guitar, the odd sample and a bit of programming too. Wiggle use live programming with drum machines, sequencers, samples, keyboards, and live vocals, guitar and bass. They've played many of the venues in and around Cork city, the odd gig in Dublin, one amazing trip north to Rathlin Island, the odd barn in west cork and the odd castle in westest Cork. Home grown electro-dub sounds, and live improvisation with seriously danceable overtones.
