Welcome to the 9th Cork Midsummer Festival.

The Shades + Rest

FRIday 24th June. TICKETS E10

Two of the most original and innovative of Cork's up and coming bands tread the boards on Friday the 24th.

THE SHADES are an Irish band with an international appeal, who marry chilled-out breaks with melting melodies. A powerful mix of live and sampled instruments. They produce an urban, melancholic sound, which continues to haunt those who hear it.

Their debut album Explosive'’ received solid airplay on all national radio stations and saw them play gigs as diverse as the 02 festival in the Phoenix Park and the Tsunami Benefit gig in Vicars St. Dublin, playing in a line up which included Mundy, Juliet Turner, and Jason Byrne.

This Spiegeltent gig marks the release of their new E.P Snapped Elastic'. Normally an eight-piece, the Shades are joined on stage by a string quartet for this one-off extra special performance.

Support comes from REST, classic purveyors of eclectic sonic soundscapes that engage the mind,

entertain the ear and stimulate the soul. Their debut album Burning in water, drowning in flame' is out now.

'Full of twists & turns...sounds fantastic...a fine debut.' The Sunday Tribune

Your host for the evening is Red FM's Colm O'Sullivan.
