Welcome to the 9th Cork Midsummer Festival.
|
A community based art project in the South Parish in association with European Capital of Culture: Cork2005.
RESPONSES
The Responses Project aims to engage with the community in exploring residents’ relationship to the South Parish, past and present.
Heart Shaped Boxes
Emma Klemencic will construct over one hundred fragile paper boxes within the project’s shop space. Each will contain typed textual fragments; a patched together lover’s discourse, playfully examining the ambiguous role of those who love. Each visitor will be invited to dismantle the installation by taking a box with them as a token.
Lucy Parle
Lucy will produce heart shaped ceramic multiples in the project’s shop space, which she will both display and smash in the shop space. Visitors are invited to fashion their own clay pieces, which will be used to form a heart shaped installation.
Don’t Burst the Bubble
Helle Kvamme has been investigating notions of value - both monetary and emotional- and identity, collaborating with local residents and businesses in the South Parish area. She invites young residents to visit her photo booth in the Responses Shop, where free bubble gum will be distributed for a fantastic bubble-blowing extravaganza.
17th- 18th June @ 10-5pm.
The Responses Shop, 24 Douglas Street.
