Welcome to the 9th Cork Midsummer Festival.

PADDY KEENAN & TOMMY O'SULLIVAN

Monday 20th June. TICKETS E12

Paddy Keenan was a founder member and piper with the Bothy Band, a band that forever changed the face of Irish traditional music, merging a driving rhythm section with traditional Irish tunes in ways that had never been heard before.

Generally acknowledged as the most accomplished uillean piper performing today, Paddy is certainly one of the most brilliant musicians of his generation. He can rightfully claim his place alongside such open-style

legends as pipers John Cash and Johnny Doran. 'In Irish music there are legends and legends and then there's Paddy Keenan.' John O'Regan - Rock'n' Reel.

Tommy Sullivan, a gifted guitar player and singer, has recorded with Sliabh Notes on Gleanntan' and Along Blackwater's Banks' and also with Paddy Keenan on The Long Grazing Acre'.

'Together...they are the finest pipes-and-guitar duo ever ...Keenan's playing has a masterful blend of sweetness and fiery power...O'Sullivan adds a subtly percussive and driving guitar. His vocal numbers...are gorgeous and soulful.' The Munster Buttermilk

This is the duo's only appearance in County Cork in 2005.

The support act will be Cork musicians William Hammond (Accordion), Linda Quinlan (Fiddle) and John Mitchell (Uillean Pipes).
