JOHN SPILLANE & LOUIS DE PAOR

Wednesday 22nd June. TICKETS E15

John Spillane is a singer, musician and songwriter from Cork. He has recorded three solo albums, Will We Be Brilliant Or What?', The Wells of the World' and Hey, Dreamer' (currently riding high in the Irish album charts) and is a past winner of a prestigious Meteor Award in the Folk/Trad section, wiping the floor with other acts such as Altan, The Chieftains, Kila, and Sinead O'Connor. He also has his own Radio Show on RnaG, Rogha John Spillane'.

Louis de Paor has long been involved with the contemporary renaissance of poetry in Irish. He is a three times winner of the Seán Ó Ríordáin/Oireachtas Award, was short-listed for the Victorian Premier's Award for Literary Translation and is the recipient of the Lawrence O'Shaughnessy Award, the first poet in Irish to achieve that distinction.

Together, John and Louis are the GAELIC HIT FACTORY, churning out Killer songs in the Irish and English language that are programmed to live for 500 years or more.

'Spillane, of course, dominates centre stage and as he gently steers us through his vast back-catalogue of understated gems, you start to divine the depth of his abilities.' The Irish Times

'When he let his voice fly one felt as if a bird had escaped from a cage and was celebrating freedom with a great show of power and colour and emotion.' Irish Music Magazine

'I wish John would do another album; we have the Wells of the World' worn out.' Christy Moore
