An exhibition of theatre photography by Janice O'Connell.

Everyman Palace Theatre marks the launch of its foyer as an exhibition space with a retrospective of Janice O'Connell's photographs of Cork theatre work over the past ten years.

Theatre photographs are an integral means of conveying the mood, content and context of live performance, as well as being a crucial selling tool. Theatre photography has become a specialised art form in itself. One thinks of the brilliant and innovative work of Anthony Crickmay in the UK and Tom Lawlor and Amelia Stein in Dublin. In Cork Kevin McLoughlin recorded the theatre scene almost single handedly for decades and more recently Paul O' Flynn and Martin Healy were active.

Janice O'Connell, a graduate of the Crawford College Of Art and Design, photographs drama, dance and architecture and also runs her own commercial studio.

Everyman Palace Theatre Foyer Tuesday 14 June @ 6.30pm then daily 10am - 8pm (performance days).
