Literary Tours of Cork
The tours comprise readings of work by essential Cork authors, which you will
experience directly in the place where they are set.
On the North side tour listen to Conor Tallon read Fr. Prout’s ‘The Bells of Shandon’ in the shadows of the steeple itself. Hear Frank O’Connor recount his move from Blarney Street to St. Luke’s while you walk some of the same route to Coburg Street where Conal Creedon recounts the street life of his youth. You will finish in Wellington Road listening to poems by Roz Cowman, Sean Dunne and Thomas McCarthy speaking evocatively of the time they lived and loved there.
On the South side tour listen to Liz O’Donoghue recount details of a romance set near the Berwick Fountain on the Grand Parade. Louis De Paor reads in Irish and English about Frenche’s Quay. Share Greg O’Donoghue’s view of the city from the parapet of Elizabeth Fort and explore the grounds of St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral through the eyes of a 1970’s schoolboy in Patrick Cotter’s short story.
Southside Tour: City Library: 10am - 4pm (except Sunday)
Northside Tour: Firkin Crane: 9am - 4pm (except Saturday & Sunday)
The recorded walks will be separately available (as CD + player) as free loans from the Firkin Crane / City Library throughout the Festival.
Some form of picture ID will be required as deposit.

Ces voyages incluent la lecture d’oeuvres provenant d’auteurs incontournables, vous pourrez alors faire l’expérience de ces oeuvres exactement aux endroits où elles ont eu lieu.
Dans la partie Nord du voyage Conor Tallon lira « The Bells of Shandon» de Fr. Prout à l’ombre du clocher lui-même. Venez écouter Franck O’Connor raconter son déménagement de Blarney Street à St Luke tout en vous promenant, le long du même chemin, vers la rue de Coburg où Conal Creedon évoquera sa jeunesse qu’il a passée dans la rue. Vous finirez à Wellington Road pour écouter des poèmes de Roz Cowman, Sean Dunne et Thomas McCarthy à l’époque où ils habitèrent et aimèrent cet endroit.
Lors du voyage du cote sud, vous pourrez entendre Liz O’Donoghue raconter les détails de la romance qui s’est formé près de la fontaine de Berwick sur Grand Parade. Lois De Paor lit en Irlandais et en Anglais sur les Frenche’s Quay.
Partagez la vision de la ville de Greg O’Donoghues depuis le parapet du Fort Elizabeth et explorez l’étendue des terrains de la cathédrale de St Fin Barre à travers les yeux d’un élève des années 1970, le tout au sein des nouvelles de Patrick Cotter.
